Motivation is a constant struggle for a lot of us who are trying to achieve goals. The way we keep on track is learning how to say no to ourselves. That's a toughie when there's so many distractions. Saying no to ourselves in order to focus allows us to say yes to our dreams.
There is a deluge of content out there trying to give us tips on avoiding procrastination from podcasts to YouTube videos on how to stay motivated. One of the biggest blocks to motivation is having big ideas and not being able to achieve them quickly or not being able to see the steps towards achieving them. So we then get demotivated when we don't get to achieve our goals. One of the biggest tips I have picked up from motivation experts like Lisa Nichols from Motivating The Masses are:
1. Aim big and break goals down to small, time bound milestone steps. Once you start working on your steps, you will start to feel better about your path towards your bigger aims.
2. Celebrate your small wins. With each step achieved find a way to applaud your success. Treat yourself to a small piece of luxury whatever that may be from a piece of cake or a bouquet of flowers to brighten up the room.
Sam Bennett the author of Get It Done recommends putting just 15 minutes a day into your big project as a way of getting things done. Her work is channeled towards creatives. However, we are all creatives. We are good at generating new ideas that get lost in the ether due to so much going on around us. We think we can do everything ourselves yet it is really useful and time effective if we delegate tasks to others so we can can get on with what we are good at.
There are plenty of us that think of inventions and design ideas or dream of spaces that we would like to be in. There are companies out there that aim to help you catch those visions before they float away. Companies like Athena Creative Solutions can start working from just a rough sketch of an idea and create a photo-realistic image of it. This is done using computer aided design programs. Your vision can be captured to motivate you to the next step. Aim for those big goals, the ones that are so big they make you nauseous. Then achieve them one step at a time.
